Book Review: YOU by Charles Benoit

Title: YOU
Author: Charles Benoit
Publisher: Harper Teen
(Published August 24 2010)
Source: Library
Rating: 4/5

This wasn't the way it was supposed to go.
You're just a typical fifteen-year-old sophomore, an average guy named Kyle Chase. This can't be happening to you. But then, how do you explain all the blood? How do you explain how you got here in the first place?
There had to have been signs, had to have been some clues it was coming. Did you miss them, or ignore them? Maybe if you can figure out where it all went wrong, you can still make it right. Or is it already too late? Think fast, Kyle. Time's running out. How did this happen?
You is the riveting story of fifteen-year-old Kyle and the small choices he does and doesn't make that lead to his own destruction.

REVIEW:
You is a very interesting read. It follows the life of Kyle your average sophomore with what i wouldn't really call behavior issues but isn't the best student. He doesn't really fit in but with a clique they call the hoodies. The book is also short so its a quick read. A really interesting aspect is the book is written in second person so that means the whole things uses you. It takes a  while to get used to but once you get in your really going to enjoy.   Some aspects of the book I didn't really understand why they are there . The main characters are really interesting and remind you of actual teenagers. From the hoodie Kyle to the weird new kid Zack. The book gives some twist and turns all throughout that give the book a little bit more of an edge. The book also has a surprise kind of ending . The last page will have  you sitting on the edge of your seat when the story starts to wrap up. Im not going to say what happens but it surprised me.
The book takes a little bit of reading to get into. The cover is AWESOME it is relevant to the book and is overall beautiful.  Overall I give You a total of 4/5. SO YOU should go pick up and read You!

Clary will need to face some terrifying demons and even more terrifying family decisions. No one said that the life of a Shadowhunter would be easy

REVIEW:

This book was really good. It was a great second book to the Mortal Instruments series. I would recommend this book to anyone I meet. If you read City of Bones and liked it you will love City of Ashes.

If you haven't the Mortal Instrument series it's about this demon hunters called Shadowhunters who go through many things from kicking demon butt to finding out that the person they like is actually their sibling . This book continues on the story between Valentine, Clary, and Jace. The story also introduces some new stories and elements. The book City of Ashes also has other characters like werewolves and vampires. The book is also not just a thriller it has a dash of romance here and there. The book City of Ashes has a little bit of everything combined into one BIG book of AWESOME!!!!!

I would recommend this book to the lovers of books with demons or any underworld-ish creature of the night. I give this book a 5/5 overall its that awesome. So go pick up this really good 2nd installment of the Mortal Instrument Series.

GUEST REVIEW-Book Review: The Stand, by Stephen King

The Stand" is a very tense thriller. It was originally written in the 1980's, and since then has been edited for 1990 (updated pop references, and such) and has been made into a 4-part movie. The version I read is the very latest one, not the one pictured to the left. Anyway, it starts off with four or five normal guys at a gas station in Arnette, Texas. This gas station is owned by one of the men sitting there, by the name of Hapscomb. Suddenly, a car comes careening wildly towards the gas pumps. In their rush to turn off the gas so as to avoid an explosion, they don't stop to think why this car would be going so wildly... until they open the door. The driver is a dying man who has been hit by an awful plague. And so begins the story. There is a horrible disease that somehow got loose from a government experiment, and it is caught by 99.6% of people. The few survivors that are scattered all across the country begin to have dreams of an old woman... but also, of a terrifying man with no face, labeled the "dark man". People begin to take sides; either they're with Mother Abagail, or they're with the dark man. But some people who are with Mother Abagail truly aren't, at heart...

REVIEW:
This book was wonderful. I have a very weak constitution, and generally can't read very scary things late at night. But I sat up all night reading this book, endlessly. The characters have a very good depth, and they constantly change as the atmosphere of the story changes. They and the relationships they form make for a very interesting read. Also, the idea of a huge plague being accidentally unleashed upon our citizenry is simply terrifying. It's enough to make anyone shiver in their boots. But it's also enough to make anyone want to read this book cover-to-cover to see how these people recuperate from such a random tragedy. I give it a 5/5. Well, maybe a 6/5.
