That's the answer to the question...not some to be or not to be stuff. Well as you can probably tell I will be rejoining an oh so changed YA Blogging community. I had to take a break from blogging. I felt as if the weight of school and blogging were crushing me to the point of panic attacks. So I decided to take a break from blogging and focus more on school. Junior year is not small feat so if you haven't reached it yet good luck. During this break though I realized I STILL love reading and no matter what I LOVE to share books with others. Thank you for everyone who stuck by me or maybe you are new but still Thanks! I will be back and better than ever! Please comment below if you have any suggestions or if you know you just want to say Hi! It makes my day!<br />

<br />
<br />
Only sunlight can save us.<br />
We built the wall to keep them out, to keep us safe. But it also makes us prisoners, trapped in what's left of our ravaged city, fearing nightfall.<br />
After the death of my parents, it's up to me--as the newest delegate for humanity--to bargain with our vampire overlord. I thought I was ready. I thought I knew everything there was to know about the monsters. Then again, nothing could have prepared me for Lord Valentine . . . or his son. Maybe not all vampires are killers. Maybe it's safe to let one in.<br />
Only one thing is certain: Even the wall is not enough. A war is coming and we cannot hide forever</blockquote>
<br />
Yes. This simple word can speak volumes for this book. Yes to the writing. Yes to the characters.Finally Yes to the story. Darkness Before Dawn was a surprising read. When I began this book I thought it would be your average. Girl meets vampire. Girl falls in love with vampire. Girl becomes target of all vampires enemies.Darkness Before Dawn was so much more. It might have some of those elements but it also offers so much more. When I reached the last page I wanted to cry. The last too sentences left me on the edge of my seat craving some more.<br />
First I want to talk about the main character, Dawn. In this future world vampires kind of rule I guess you could say. Humans have all moved into big cities surrounded by huge walls to protect them from vampire but that doesn't always work. The humans have arrangements with these vampire families to send them blood in exchange for protection from a vampire attack. That's where our main character Dawn comes in. She is the delegate that makes the arrangements with the vampires. I liked Dawn because she is a strong female character. She is able to stand up for herself both with adults and with the overbearing vampire Lord Valentine. Dawn can also kick some butt and stake some vampires when it is needed. Another thing I loved about Darkness Before Dawn were the VAMPIRES themselves. They were the pictures of vampires I always look for when I read a book. They are blood-sucking monsters that I will do anything for blood. And like always there are those vampires that broke the mold. The ones that were caring monsters I guess you could say. There are also a host of other characters I found enjoyable like the main characters best friend. She was very entertaining.<br />
If you didn't know that J.A.London is a mother-son writing team. I was not able to tell that at any point during reading. The writing style was consistent and quite enjoyable. I only have one gripe which was one part of the book was quite predictable. I'm not telling you which though. The writing in Darkness Before Dawn was face paced which was something that I enjoyed a lot. Each of the characters had a distinct voice which is always good. I was able to feel like I was actually present in Dawn's world with all the emotion that you can feel in the writing.<br />
Well if you cant tell from all my praise I highly recommend that you pick up Darkness Before Dawn. It's a surprise book. You think its going to be your average paranormal romance and it turns into so much more. The authors combined both equal parts of romance and action to give birth to the excellent creature which is Darkness Before Dawn. I'm craving the sequel Blood-Kissed Sky to see what will happen in the next installment.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Today I'm glad to have the author of A Bad Day for Voodoo, Jeff Strand, here with us to lay a little This or That Supernatural Edition. So enjoy you all! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold;">1. Who would win in a fight: a vampire or a werewolf?</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">Neither. I truly believe that if they just talked out their issues, they could resolve everything without having to resort to violence. Everybody's a winner!</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold;">2. Which would you rather have explode, your ear or your toe?</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">Every time one of my toes explodes it puts me in a crabby mood for at least a couple of days, so I'm going to say my ear.</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold;">3. DC or Marvel Comics?</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">Are DC and Marvel Comics supernatural? Wow. That explains everything!</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold;">4. Who would you rather fight in a battle, a magical gypsy or a zombie?</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt 0pt 0pt 21.6pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;"> </span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">A zombie. One good poke in the head with a pitchfork and they’re no longer a problem.</span><span style="font-size: 12pt;"> </span><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Whereas a magical gypsy...well, that’s where you find yourself clucking like a chicken for the rest of your life.</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold;">5. Casper or Bloody Mary?</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt 0pt 0pt 21.6pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;"> </span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">Well, Casper the Friendly Ghost has "friendly" right there in his name, so I'd much rather fight him in a battle because he'd probably be all nice and stuff while you were beating him up.</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold;">6. Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde?</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">Is the question still who I would rather fight in a battle? Would anybody pick Mr. Hyde? I mean, that's like asking if I'd rather fight Bruce Banner or The Hulk. Of course I'd pick Dr. Jekyll--he's a total wuss. If that's not what you were asking then I might have to revise my Casper answer above.</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;"></span></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold;">7. Wou</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold;">ld you rather have the power transfiguration</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold;"> or invisibility?</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">Transfiguration, because not only could I change into something really cool, like a hippopotamus, but I could find a loophole in this question and transform myself into an invisible man! Ha!</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold;">8. What’s harder to find, a working pay phone or ten thousand dollars?</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">Though my characters are desperately searching for a pay phone at one point in the book, in real life I have a nice shiny iPhone. Not the latest model, but nice and shiny nevertheless. So it’s been several years since I’ve used a pay phone, and for all I know every pay phone in the country is covered with slime and infested by bloodthirsty wasps. But I’ve also never just found ten thousand dollars lying around. </span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-style: italic;">This question is too hard!!!</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-style: italic;"> I have to skip it!!!</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold;">9. What would make a better getaway car, a minivan or a taxi cab?</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">Let’s be honest—they’re both awful getaway cars. What you want is a helicopter that swoops down and picks you up. </span><span style="font-size: 12pt;">One that's just like in the movies where it doesn't make any sound until it pops up in the frame. </span><span style="font-size: 12pt;">That would be awesome.</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt 0pt 0pt 21.6pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold;">10. Who is more dangerous, a Rottweiler or a family of cannibals?</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">A family of cannibals, DUR!!!</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold;">11. </span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold;">What’s a better weapon, a suitcase or a voodoo doll?</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">A suitcase filled with voodoo dolls.</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold;">12. </span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold;">In 137 years when robots that have taken over the earth would you hide in a junkyard or the sewers?</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">I feel that when robots have taken over the earth, it's not such a great idea to hide in a place that is littered with the corpses of their fallen friends. That just makes them mad. Sewers have a bad reputation, but you meet lots of interesting people down there. I'd go there even if robots hadn't taken over the earth.</span><span style="font-size: 12pt;"> That's where I'm answering these</span><span style="font-size: 12pt;"> questions now.</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
THANKS Jeff for joining us today! </div>

<blockquote class="tr_bq">
When your best friend is just a tiny bit psychotic, you should never actually believe him when he says, "Trust me. This is gonna be awesome."<br />
Of course, you probably wouldn't believe a voodoo doll could work either. Or that it could cause someone's leg to blow clean off with one quick prick. But I've seen it. It can happen.<br />
And when there's suddenly a doll of YOU floating around out there—a doll that could be snatched by a Rottweiler and torn to shreds, or a gang of thugs ready to torch it, or any random family of cannibals (really, do you need the danger here spelled out for you?)—well, you know that's just gonna be a really bad day ...</blockquote>

Starting over sucks.<br />
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.<br />
And then he opened his mouth.<br />
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.<br />
The hot alien living next door marks me.<br />
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.<br />
If I don't kill him first, that is.</blockquote>
<br />
What can I say to make the awesomeness of this book to be reflected in my words. I don't believe I can muster words strong enough to do justice to this piece of literary genius. But, I shall try, without the over use of " awesome" or " amazing' or the oh so common " awesome sauce" . This book combines all of the things you want in a book: an amazing story, characters that you will love, and suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end. Mrs. Armentrout provides the reader with an experience that I haven't seen much in a book before. The idea of Obsidian is unique and breaks the mold of YA trends that are occurring these days.<br />
<br />
First I will talk about some of the characters that are present in Obsidian. The main character is Katy. She is the new girl in town and has no friends yet. Once she moves in she is ready to get back to her one love which is ummm...welllll...the best thing ever Book Blogging! Then she meets one of her neighbors, Daemon, who I hated for most of the book because he was a complete butthole. He lives next door with his twin sister who becomes one of Katy's best friends. Although Daemon doesn't want that to happen because he is too overprotective of Katy. Dee is one of my favorite characters because she is so full of energy and very funny.( Also never eat her ice cream)<br />
<br />
Jennifer Armentrout's writing was refreshing. She presents a new idea into the YA market that wasn't a part of it before. Her characters all held unique voices. Also her writing was descriptive but not overly descriptive which made it an overall great story. Having the main character as a book blogger was a cool and unique part of the story. She participated in writing reviews and memes even receiving advanced copies of books. Her attention to detail was magnificent.<br />
<br />
If you are looking for a book that will have you both on the edge of your seat in suspense from action and contains that splash of romance a book needs Obsidian is for you. I loved every single second of Obsidian from beginning to end. I was so attached to Obsidian. I simply cannot wait to get my hand on the sequel Onyx.<br />

Would you live through the ultimate test of survival?<br />
The city of Kersh is a safe haven, but the price of safety is high. Everyone has a genetic Alternate—a twin raised by another family—and citizens must prove their worth by eliminating their Alts before their twentieth birthday. Survival means advanced schooling, a good job, marriage—life.<br />
Fifteen-year-old West Grayer has trained as a fighter, preparing for the day when her assignment arrives and she will have one month to hunt down and kill her Alt. But then a tragic misstep shakes West’s confidence. Stricken with grief and guilt, she’s no longer certain that she’s the best version of herself, the version worthy of a future. If she is to have any chance of winning, she must stop running not only from her Alt, but also from love . . . though both have the power to destroy her.</blockquote>

<br />
<br />
Olivia reached up, feeling the tender spots on her head. Her fingers brushed across a row of—were those little ridges made of metal?<br />
“Careful. The staples are almost ready to come out, but it’s still going to be sore for a while.”<br />
Staples?!Her stomach rolled. I have staples in my head? She lowered her now-shaking hand. “Can I get a mirror?”<br />
Mom looked at Dad, then back at her. “I don’t think that’s a good idea. Not until you’ve healed a little more.”<br />
Mom patted Olivia’s leg. “You just relax. We’ll be back in a few minutes.”<br />
The two of them left the room, but when Mom swung the door closed, it didn’t latch. Olivia could hear their voices in the hall.<br />
“I still think we should…” She couldn’t make out the rest of Dad’s muffled words. “…know if I can do this.”<br />
“…late for that,” Mom said. “We’d lose everything, including…” Her voice faded as they got farther away. “…have to move.”<br />
Olivia could tell the conversation was tense, but the words were impossible to decipher now. Holding a hand in front of her face, she turned it back and forth. A plastic tube ran from her arm to a machine next to her bed. She peeked into her nightgown and stared in horror at the long red stripe running down her chest.<br />
Sick.<br />
You’re alive. You shouldn’t be thinking about looks.<br />
Lowering her hand, she scanned the room. I wonder how my face looks. From the way Dad stared at me, plus the fact Mom won’t let me see a mirror, it must be bad.<br />
Brains are more important than looks.<br />
That’s what ugly people say.<br />
Olivia put her hands on her head and squeezed. “Stop it,” she whispered to her arguing thoughts, hysteria bubbling up and squeezing the air from her lungs. What was happening to her? Why didn’t she recognize her parents or know where she was? Who she was? Tears ran warm trails down her cheeks. “Just make it all stop.”<br />

<img height="106" src="http://www.theresabook.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/armchairbea21.jpg" width="400" />
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hmmmmm...Hmmmm....Hmmmm, this is going to be a hard topic to write about. Beyond The Blog is</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
something that I really never address or think about. I do participate in the Amazon Affiliate program which</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
is one in which you can link to books and if someone follows that link and purchases the book or item you</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
get a small percent of each sale. The only place I've been asked to write a review outside of blogging is in </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
school and those reviews I earn grades for. Does that count?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So now on to experiences or invites to events I wouldn't have gone to or been invited to if I wasn't </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
blogging. I can only think of when I was invited to publisher breakfasts or lunches at BEA. But sadly I </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
couldn't go to BEA. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Also I would love to write book reviews for the newspaper but I'm only 16 and my local newspaper </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
doesn't really have teen book reviews. They focus mainly on cookbooks or adult books. I think it would </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
lend to a magnificent opportunity. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;">THOUGHTS? </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div>
<a href="" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img height="100" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLfzDmSjIu3kDYRov2M9HRIphyQs8rZ1-xzpF96p7gCc0wF42_Xu96a-J6M1oZqG-oApAAAlqFwYBbYgrX70sx8j-6r7zpKnEfvbzTFjWJMVpCgvo1cSOmWLlN8eDhWvja4Xol5_An0P8/s800/sign.png" width="188" /></a>Patrick(iRandomBlogger)http://www.blogger.com/profile/04468758685524549255noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3681114940106561506.post-76853188092289010732012-06-06T10:43:00.003-04:002012-06-06T14:46:05.082-04:00Armchair BEA Day #3 : In Which My Town Sucks<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="106" src="http://www.theresabook.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/armchairbea21.jpg" width="400" />
</div>
<br />
<br />
So today for Armchair BEA I was supposed to discuss offline networking . Well obviously by the title<br />
<br />
My Town Sucks. We only have 1 Barnes and Noble and it never has events. Plus I've never been able to<br />
<br />
attend the closest author events which are in Atlanta. The local libraries never have any events for teenagers<br />
<br />
not even a book club which I believe is quite sad. So this post is basically going to be my rant on the town.<br />
<br />
First I believe that the local libraries should start having events. There are always signs on the walls saying<br />
<br />
get your children to read but I never see any actions done by the school or library system to interest kids in <br />
<br />
reading I would recommend at least having a book club for us. I'm sure that would help a little bit to<br />
<br />
increase the amount of reading being done in this town. Also they could at least try to have some FUN with<br />
<br />
reading events. So maybe if this occurred there would be a chance for my to have some offline networking<br />
<br />
but until then I'm just here all by myself.<br />
<br />
Outside of my offline networking my online networking includes the uses of Goodreads and Twitter.<br />
<br />
Those are two very important methods of networking and any blogger will find them very important<br />
<br />
to have. I have met so many people through them that have become great friends. Also I believe they both<br />
<br />
have helped to drive more traffic to my blog. SO if your town sucks like my town maybe you should try<br />
<br />
Twitter and Goodreads.<br />

<br />
<br />
Hey y'all my name is Patrick if you don't already know me.Im 16 years old and attend private school. Also Im from Georgia (GO SOUTH!) and I love to read. To kick off Armchair BEA Im going to answer 5 questions so enjoy !<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?</li>
</ul>
<div>
<br />
<div>
Well I kind of already did up there but I'll do it again! My name is Patrick and Imma Real Boy....Im 16 and I live in Georgia also I have a tendency of being random. Ive been blogging for a year and a half almost. I got into blogging because I wanted to share my love of books with others. </div>
<div>
<br />
<div>
<ul>
<li>Have your reading tastes changed since you started blogging? How?</li>
</ul>
</div>
<div>
<br />
<div>
Yes they most definitely have. Since I've started blogging I have begun to read more dystopian novels which now could be considered my favorite genre. </div>
<br />
<ul>
<li>What is your favorite feature on your blog (i.e. author interviews, memes, something specific to your blog)?</li>
</ul>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
I love doing Waiting on Wednesday. It's such a great meme because it helps others find books they might be interested in as well while you can also obsess over a book you are absolutely dying for. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<ul>
<li>What literary location would you most like to visit? Why? </li>
</ul>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY want to visit the world of Incarnate by Jodi Meadows. Its so interesting with all the reincarnation and the description of the society there. </div>
<div>
<div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<ul>
<li>What are you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so far in 2012?</li>
</ul>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
I'll answer both parts because I really want to. Right now i am reading Unraveling by Elizabeth Norris. And my favorite book Ive read in 2012 is Arcadia Awakens by Kai Meyer it was sooooo goood! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Thanks y'all for stopping by! Leave your links in the comments below and I will be sure to stop by! I hope y'all have a great time this week with Armchair BEA if you are participating! </div>

So first of all I want to thank you all for sticking with me during this terrible period of no blogging. But this can not be controlled by me so I am going on Hiatus for the rest of May. The end of the school year is supposed to be relaxed and exciting but no. All of my teachers decided to pile on projects and books that must be read so I'm pretty much drowning in work to be done thus my absence is explained. I really hate this a lot. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
... on a Friday!Today I have a very special guest on the blog. She is one of the bloggers that I've met during my time as a blogger and we are basically BFF's. She is Darla from D For Darla's Definite Reads ( You REALLY must check out her blog. I love It) So to keep me from carrying on any longer here is the interview!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div>
<h4 style="text-align: left;">
"How are you today Darla?”</h4>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Doing pretty good.</div>
<h4 style="text-align: left;">
“ Well thats great to hear, so you have been blogging for about 1 year which is excellent. How have you seen blogging evolve in that amount of time” <a name='more'></a></h4>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I can’t say the whole community because I probably only know a tiny fraction of the community. It keeps growing as a whole though. </div>
<h4 style="text-align: left;">
“ What would you say is one of the best things about being a blogger?”</h4>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Having tons of online friends that you can talk to about anything and everything. </div>
<h4 style="text-align: left;">
“ Hahaha. Yeah I agree. So what would you say is one of the worst things about being a blogger if there are any?”</h4>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Being criticized for your opinion or being scared to share your opinion for fear of being criticized. </div>
<h4 style="text-align: left;">
“ So what are some of the greatest books you’ve read within the last 5 years? This question is the bane of all bloggers”</h4>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Five years? One year is too much of books. Okay list....anything by JLA, Dark Hunters series by Sherrilyn Kenyon, Black Dagger Brotherhood by JR Ward, The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, Shatter Me by Taherah Mafi, and I could probably go on. </div>
<h4 style="text-align: left;">
“ Any exciting things happen to you during your time as a blogger”</h4>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Exciting things...I made online friends, have attended several book events including BEA where I got to meet more friends and some I’ve met online in person. I think just being apart of an awesome community is pretty exciting. </div>

A novel about love, loss, and sex -- but not necessarily in that order.<br />
<br />
Before her mother died, Shelby promised three things: to listen to her father, to love as much as possible, and to live without restraint. Those Promises become harder to keep when Shelby's father joins the planning committee for the Princess Ball, an annual dance that ends with a ceremonial vow to live pure lives -- in other words, no "bad behavior," no breaking the rules, and definitely no sex.<br />
<br />
Torn between Promises One and Three, Shelby makes a decision -- to exploit a loophole and lose her virginity before taking the vow. But somewhere between failed hookup attempts and helping her dad plan the ball, Shelby starts to understand what her mother really meant, what her father really needs, and who really has the right to her purity<br />

<h2>
REVIEW:</h2>
Purity.Purity. Purity. When I first read the synopsis for it I thought it would have been too girly for me but after reading the first 3 chapters I was hooked. Purity is a book which will make you feel good on the inside while also offering a comical story. Jackson Pearce's writing provided both interesting writing and a compelling plot.<br />
First Im going to talk about some of the characters present in Purity. The main character is Shelby who obviously must lose her viriginity because of promises she made at her mother's death. Also she must start to live life on the edge because of the promises she made. I found her character very interesting because of her determination she made to following the rules of her dead mother. The other two "main" characters are her two best friends Jonas and Ruby. Jonas is the best friend you've had since you were young type who is always there to protect you no matter what happens. Ruby is the kind of friend everyone wants to have. She is always there to mastermind a new plan and always provides a laugh for Shelby.<br />
This wasn't my first time with Jackson Pearce's writing. I didn't know what to expect coming from her paranormal writing style to her contemporary. But once I started I was even more pleased by the writing in Purity. She provides such good characterization for her characters and her description is amazing. There was never really a dry moment that occurred. I was always wondering what was going to happen next or who was going to do what. It was a real page turner because of all the exciting things it offers.<br />
If you want a story that will keep you laughing and also provides a great story you should definitely check it out. I really enjoyed it and this is coming from a guy who thought it would be too girly in the beginning. But I was proved wrong and I was given a great story. Go and pick up Purity right now! I mean right in this very moment.Patrick(iRandomBlogger)http://www.blogger.com/profile/04468758685524549255noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3681114940106561506.post-73086619795314430342012-04-06T08:58:00.000-04:002012-05-19T11:39:45.291-04:00Follow Friday: Some Number<br />

<span style="font-size: large;">The cover on this looks absolutely haunting. I know I know. Dont judge a book by its cover. But you must agree this cover just lures you in! Also the synopsis sounds amazing !</span></div>
<blockquote>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Velveteen Monroe is dead. At 16, she was kidnapped and murdered by a madman named Bonesaw. But that's not the problem.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The problem is she landed in purgatory. And while it's not a fiery inferno, it's certainly no heaven. It's gray, ashen, and crumbling more and more by the day, and everyone has a job to do. Which doesn't leave Velveteen much time to do anything about what's really on her mind.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Bonesaw.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Velveteen aches to deliver the bloody punishment her killer deserves. And she's figured out just how to do it. She'll haunt him for the rest of his days.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It'll be brutal . . . and awesome.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
But crossing the divide between the living and the dead has devastating consequences. Velveteen's obsessive haunting cracks the foundations of purgatory and jeopardizes her very soul. A risk she's willing to take—except fate has just given her reason to stick around: an unreasonably hot and completely off-limits coworker.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Velveteen can't help herself when it comes to breaking rules . . . or getting revenge. And she just might be angry enough to take everyone down with her.</div>

REVIEW:<br />
Well sometimes the second in a series fails to amount to the greatness of the first in the series. That stops right here. A Million Suns EXCEEDED Across the Universe in greatness. I didn't think it was possible for that to occur but it did. I was hooked to every single word typed upon the page. I had to force myself to finally close it and get some sleep. A Million Suns has to be one of the most shocking books I've EVER read. <br />
In A Million Suns our two main characters Amy and Elder begin to change/ develop more in their sort of symbiotic relationship. Amy becomes more adjusted to ship life even though she is still treated like an outcast and Elder begins to learn more about the life of earthlings. Both of them play a major role in the whole story as a whole. The voices of Amy and Elder are also distinct from one another which helps when a story is told from a dual point of view. Also neither of the voices are annoying which can tend to happen sometimes in books.<br />
Beth Revis's writing style was one that you can't hate. I enjoy it so much. She keeps you on the edge of your seat to the very end of the book. She has you trying to solve who did what and how that happened but its just so impossible because of the amount of action she has in it. That's one of the key factors I love about her writing. Also her creation of the spaceship is one I found amazing. It's so detailed but then not overly detailed.<br />
If you havent read Across the Universe. What are you doing here go pick that thing up right now. If you have read it pick up A MILLION SUNS right away. You want regret it. IT WILL have you craving the next book right away. I mean I dont know how Im going to survive. Go get it! <span style="font-size: large;">:|REVIEW|:</span> <br />
Double was a terrifyingly good book. I was attached to every word of it as I was reading. I couldn't put it down for a day. Double combines a a scary plot with a mystery. You can believe me when I say this book was truly a great one.<br />
First Im going to talk about the characters. The main character Chap believes he is no one. It isnt until he takes the life of Cassiel Roadnight that he discovers his true self. He spends most of his time pretending to be Cassiel Roadnight worrying about being caught. He is always pondering the best way to pretend to be Cassiel trying to see what kind of actions Cassiel would take to a certain thing. Also while living the life of Cassiel he discovers MANY shocking things. One of which made me re-read the section about 100 times trying to grasp it.<br />
Jenny Valentines writing was good. I enjoyed her elements of mystery and thrilling. She keeps the reader on the edge of their seat till the very end of the book. Literally to the last page. Also her characters voices are distinct and he description was not over-bearing. I found Cassiel's sister's voice annoying at times but other than that it was great. Her theme for Double is a very unique one. I cant really find a book to relate it to.<br />
If you want a mystery/thriller I would recommend Double to you. It can be thought provoking at times while not trying to be. Also the mystery is the best part of it. Braden came to Belle Dam in search of answers. Answers to his past, to the incredible power he was born with, and the threats destined to come for him. What he found was a supernatural feud between the Lansings and the Thorpes: a feud divided by blood, ruled through manipulation, and fought with magic. His arrival has caused the tide to turn in Belle Dam, and now the things in the darkness have begun to stir.<br />
<br />
Trapped between his power and his desires, Braden struggles with the legacy he's inherited. The witch eyes give him access to incredible power, but they've ravaged his body for nearly the last time. As a series of girls are stolen, snatched away in dead of night, Braden realizes that once more there are demons maneuvering in the dark. Friendships are tested, and old alliances threatened, as Braden unravels the history behind the city's darkest secrets, and the demons bound to its core.</blockquote></div></div>Patrick(iRandomBlogger)http://www.blogger.com/profile/04468758685524549255noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3681114940106561506.post-68149931130892411102012-02-14T00:05:00.000-05:002012-02-14T00:05:00.078-05:00Book Review: Arcadia Awakens by Kai Meyer<div class="tr_bq"><a href="http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1309184055l/11595072.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Arcadia Awakens (Arcadia, #1)" border="0" height="320" src="http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1309184055l/11595072.jpg" width="211" /></a><a href="http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11595072-arcadia-awakens">Arcadia Awakens</a></div>Kai Meyer<br />

<blockquote>To Rosa Alcantara, the exotic world of Sicily, with its network of Mafia families and its reputation for murder and intrigue, is just that—exotic and wholly unknown. But when her life in Brooklyn begins to fall apart, she must travel there, to her family’s ancestral home, where centuries of family secrets await her.<br />
Once there, Rosa falls head over heels for Alessandro Carnevare, the son of a Sicilian Mafia family, whose handsome looks and savage grace both fascinate and unsettle her. But their families are sworn enemies, and her aunt and sister believe Alessandro is only using Rosa to infiltrate the Alcantara clan. And when Rosa encounters a tiger one night—a tiger with very familiar eyes—she can no longer deny that neither the Carnevares nor the Alcantaras are what they seem.<br />
Hidden caves, dangerous beasts roaming the hills, and a history of familial bloodlust mean that Rosa can’t trust anyone. Torn between loyalty to her family and love for their mortal enemy, Rosa must make the hardest decision of her life: stay in Sicily with her new love…or run as far and as fast as she can.</blockquote><br />

Lions and tigers and Italian Mafias OH MY! One of the main reason I picked up Arcadia Awakens was the cover. But I was instantly drawn into it from the first chapter. The characters and writing and the whole story in all is so compelling. I had a hard time putting it down once I finished the last page. I've read some pretty amazing books so far this year and I'm sure Arcadia Awakens is on its way to the top.<br />
First I'm going to talk about the kick butt main character Rosa. Rosa is an MC that doesn't take anything from anyone. She is kick butt.( I mean she grew up in Brooklyn you have to be) When she arrives in Sicily at her aunts house she is immediately immersed in the mob culture of her Italian family. You know the money , secrets, expensive Italian sports cars. Also she meets Alessandro along the way, which she later finds out is the soon to be head of her families rival Mafia family. While in Italy she discovers a secret about her family and some of the other Mafia families...( You will find out more about that when you start the book. -winky face-) From that point on life is a never ending story of discovery and action. She faces the constant threat of her life and also must handle the pressure of being in an Italian mob family.<br />
Kai Meyer's writing was a writing style that I believe the reader will fall in love with from the beginning. He combines both mystery and action and a unique twist which all are the makings for an amazing book. Rosa's voice and the other characters are so strong that you can imagine them outside of the page. I developed goosebumps at some times from some of the action and waiting apprehensively for what was going to happen next. Also it was not over powerful action, there were also other aspects which made it more enjoyable. At some parts I even shed a tear. (You've been warned.)<br />
If you want to read a unique book I would suggest Arcadia Awakens to you. When I first read about the Mafia part in the synopsis I was a little iffy and then once I began my thoughts instantly changed to "THIS IS AWWEESSOOMME" Kai Meyer combines elements I've never seen combined in such ways before that the story becomes one that sticks with you for a while. I can not wait for the second book in the Arkadien series!Patrick(iRandomBlogger)http://www.blogger.com/profile/04468758685524549255noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3681114940106561506.post-79133725889690045402012-02-01T00:05:00.001-05:002012-02-01T00:05:00.577-05:00Book Review: the Future of Us by Jay Asher&Carolyn Mackler<a href="http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1327890796l/10959277.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="The Future of Us" border="0" height="320" src="http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1327890796l/10959277.jpg" width="217" /></a><a href="http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/10959277-the-future-of-us">The Future of Us</a> <br />

It's 1996, and Josh and Emma have been neighbors their whole lives. They've been best friends almost as long - at least, up until last November, when Josh did something that changed everything. Things have been weird between them ever since, but when Josh's family gets a free AOL CD in the mail,his mom makes him bring it over so that Emma can install it on her new computer. When they sign on, they're automatically logged onto their Facebook pages. But Facebook hasn't been invented yet. And they're looking at themselves fifteen years in the future.<br />
<br />
By refreshing their pages, they learn that making different decisions now will affect the outcome of their lives later. And as they grapple with the ups and downs of what their futures hold, they're forced to confront what they're doing right - and wrong - in the present.</blockquote><br />
REVIEW:<br />
Even though I'm not that old (16) The Future of Us is still a blast from the past. I remember the slow and painful dialing up of the internet and the " Welcome! You've Got Mail" of AOL every time you logged on. That is one of the many reasons I believe I instantly fell in love with The Future of Us.<br />
Imagine getting on the Internet and seeing yourself 15 years in the future on a site you would have never heard of. If I were in that situation I would be just as freaked out as our two main characters Josh and Emma. John and Emma are the best friends who lived next to each other for their entire lives. Always being friends and nothing more. This all changes when Emma starts up AOL and finds herself on Facebook. From that point on everything she does in the present affects what happens to her future self. She does everything to keep her future self happy and make a better life. Josh who is a little adverse to it also embraces it to keep his life the same for his perfect future. Everything from that point on is governed by Facebook and even affects Josh and Emma's relationship with one another at times.<br />
Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler are excellent in their writing styles. I couldnt even tell that the book was written by two people. It was so seamless. Both of their writing styles are great and they each give the characters a unique voice which is really good when the book is told from dual views. Also their relaying of emotion could be felt by the reader which I think is hard to find in some books. The whole premise of Future of Us is a really unique one. Who would ever have thought of it and is a great addition in the YA segment.<br />
I would recommend you read The Future of Us even if the synopsis doesn't draw you in. It was a quick, light,and fluffy read that Im sure everyone would enjoy. It brought a feeling of warmth to my heart once I reached the final chapter and was a great book to read after reading so many action packed dystopians and fantasies. But that doesnt mean it doesnt provide action because it does. So go pick up The Future of Us! </div>Patrick(iRandomBlogger)http://www.blogger.com/profile/04468758685524549255noreply@blogger.com3
