In the blink of an eye. Everyone disappears. GONE. Except for the young. Teens. Middle schoolers. Toddlers. But not one single adult. No teachers, no cops, no doctors, no parents. Just as suddenly, there are no phones, no internet, no television. No way to get help. And no way to figure out what's happened.
Hunger threatens. Bullies rule. A sinister creature lurks. Animals are mutating. And the teens themselves are changing, developing new talents—unimaginable, dangerous, deadly powers—that grow stronger by the day.
It's a terrifying new world. Sides are being chosen, a fight is shaping up. Townies against rich kids. Bullies against the weak. Powerful against powerless. And time is running out: On your birthday, you disappear just like everyone else...

REVIEW:
Gone is amazing. If you haven't read it you must read it before you die.Seriously. I started reading it with my expectations high and they didn't lower after I finished it. The concept of the whole book was unique. I had never read anything of the sort before which made the story even more amazing. The first thing that made the story excellent were the characters.
The main characters are Sam, Quinn, Edillio and Astrid along with Astrid's little brother Pete. Sam the head main character is just an average teen who can shoot lighting bolts from his hands. Sam is a reluctant leader to the children of Perdido Beach after all the adults disappear. Sam doesn't want to be a leader but everyone expects him to be. Sam not only helps comfort the children who's parents disappeared but tries to discover a way to avoid disappearing himself. Sam is the most interesting of the characters because of his story.Aside from the main story of the book Sam has a story of discovering himself. Quinn is Sam's best friend from the beginning of the story . He isn't the best person and sometimes goes along with the bullies.Quinn goes through a lot with Sam through out the book from trying to kill him to saving his life. Edillio is a friend that Sam, Quinn, and Astrid meet along there journey who is always at there side to help them.Without Edilio Sam and his bunch wouldn't get much accomplished.
The whole idea of Gone is interesting. Being such a huge book it doesn't have a dull moment like some big books. The story keeps you guessing whats going to happen  next or what you will discover. Just imagine being in class one day and all of a sudden all the adults disappear. (I have no idea what I would do probably freak out.) Well thats what happens in Gone. Not just that some of the kids left start to develop powers and the animals mutate.  Every single moment of the book is unique and nothing repeats.
Overall Gone is a fast paced AMAZING book. I loved the characters and the story all together. Everyone should pick up Gone. If it wasn't for Ecey I would have missed out on the marvelous work of Mr. Grant. So go pick up this book and take it for a spin. In the end you are going to enjoy the ride you are going to be starving for Hunger like I am.

  1. Thanks for this review. I teach 8th grade English and a number of my students have read this book this year. I'm seriously considering ordering a class set for next year.
