Fifteen-year-old Bridget Liu just wants to be left alone: by her mom, by the cute son of a local police sergeant, and by the eerie voices she can suddenly and inexplicably hear. Unfortunately for Bridget, it turns out the voices are demons – and Bridget has the rare ability to banish them back to whatever hell they came from.

Terrified to tell people about her new power, Bridget confides in a local priest who enlists her help in increasingly dangerous cases of demonic possession. But just as she is starting to come to terms with her new power, Bridget receives a startling message from one of the demons. Now Bridget must unlock the secret to the demons' plan before someone close to her winds up dead – or worse, the human vessel of a demon king.
 REVIEW:
I read this book just in time for the holidays. Halloween that is. Before reading Possess I was urged greatly by fellow bloggers to hurry up and pick it up. I'm so glad I did. Possess is an awesome book! It combines both demon kick butting (always a plus) and a splash of romance to ease up on the heavy demon-ness. The first thing I loved were the characters.
. The main character is Bridget. Bridget is your average rebel. She wears combat boots and doesn't follow many of the rules. Her father died in a terrible murder and she just wants to be alone now.Her mom is trying to spark up both her' s and Bridget's love life. Also her mom is overprotective. Bridget also has the power to banish and communicate with demons. During Possess she encounters many demons and deception. She also has to deal with all of this while having a crush on the town police officers son. Another character I enjoyed was Hector. He added the humor aspect to  the book that smoothed out the non- action-y parts .
There was something about Gretchen's writing style that made it go faster.  Possess was full of action and it never had a dull moment to it. If they weren't kicking demon butt they were making a shocking discovery. Each of her characters had a distinct , and unique voice. I couldn't compare her characters to any Ive read before. Also her characters were far from perfect which made it an all around good book.
All in all Possess was a great read. As Ive said before it is full of action with both splashes of humor and romance along the way. You think the story can go one way and it takes a whole new pattern. Once you finish it will have you begging on your knees for more. Im really glad I was finally able to pick it up. You all should try it. I promise it wont disappoint.
